53809 at Beck Hole Gallery: Locomotives Description: No 53809, built by R Stephenson in 1925 and spent all of its working life on the Somersey and Doset Railway. Designed originally as a freight locomotive, but they pressed into passenger service on busy Summer Saturdays to the South Coast of England. No 53809 is seen here on a demonstration freight steaming out of Beck Hole on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
