No 49 hauls a coal train from Tanfield Gallery: Locomotives Description: No 49 was built in 1943 by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns, woks No 7098. The loco worked the best part of its life on the Backworth Colliery complex in Northumberland, it was part of the National Coal Board. No 49 was rescued by the Tanfield Railway and restored to working order .it is seen here in charge of a coal train, steaming up the grade to Causey Arch station.
