Me109 Gallery: Aircraft Description: Spanish built Me109 known as a Buchon. After the Spanish Civil War, the Germans left around 40 machines which belonged to the Condor Legion. Improving relations with the West saw Rolls Royce Merlins being fitted. This aircraft was one of 27 purchased for the film Battle of Britain. In 1996 the Old Flying Machine Company bought this example and registered it as G-BWUE, it was then sold to the Real Aeroplane Company, who took on a full rebuild to flying condition. The aircraft was marked up as Red 1 which flew from the Greek island of Rhodes in 1943
