Avro Nineteen Anson Gallery: Aircraft Description: Avro Nineteen Anson This aircraft had the first of its test flights in 1946, and was later delivered to Smiths Instruments. After several owners it was put up for sale in 1973 and acquired by the Straithallan Collection.Unfortunately this was not to last and again put up for auction in 1981. It was purchased by British Aerospace for £600, it was then not airworthy.It was decided that the aircraft would be useful for apprentices for a hands on experience. The airframe was completely refurbished by volunteer retired staff. the result of their many hours of dedicated effort, it first flew in March 2002 and is now a regular performer at the air displays
