Lancaster Fly By No4
Lancaster Fly By No4 Gallery: Aircraft Description: Lancaster PA474 PA474 is one of only two flying Lancasters in the world today after a total of 7,377 being produced. Built by Vickers Armstrong in 1945 it was too late to see service in Europe and it was to be part of the Tiger Force in the war against Japan. In 1964 PA474 was adopted by the Air Historical Branch with a view to displaying it in the R A F Museum Hendon but this was not to be and it was kept in airworthy condition and it actually made an appearance in the film The Guns of Navarone. The Lancaster joined the Memorial Flight in 1967 where it remains in flying condition today
