B 17 Pink Lady. Gallery: Aircraft Description: The Pink Lady is a nickname of a B 17 Flying Fortress bomber. It was one of the few B 17 s in flying condition, till its retirement in 2010. Rolled out of Lockheed-Verga production facility in California in December 1944. On March 1945, 44-8846 was sent to R A F Polebrook England and assigned to the 511 Bomb Squadron, 351 st Bomb Group. 44-8846 only flew six missions over Germany, she was then transferred to the 365 t h Bomb Squadron, 305 th Bomb Group based at R A F Chelweston England. She was featured as a B 17 f Mother and Country in the feature film "Memphis Belle" The Pink Lady was kept at Paris Orly Airport France. In October 2010 is stored at the airfield of Amicale Jean Baptiste Sallis.
