Spitfire Tr 9 Gallery: Aircraft Description: Originally built as a Mk 9 at Castle Bromwich in 1944.After a fairly distinguished carrier in the royal Air Force the aircraft was put into storage until 1950. Vickers-Armstrong selected the aircraft to be converted to atwo seat trainer configuration, as part of an order for the Irish Air Corps. The trainers were used to convert pilots to there Seafire fleet. In 1960 the the trainers were made redundant and put up for sale. After several years the aircraft was restored to flying condition. In 2010 to commemorate the 70 th Anniversary of the Battle of britain the aircraft was painted in the markings and codes of 19 Squadron R A F. A Duxford aircaft flown by Berard Jennings during the battle.
