Black Corsair Gallery: Aircraft Description: One of the famous aircraft maintained and stored at Meier Motors shop is the Chance Vought Corsair F4U-5NL. Built as a night fighter in 1950 and in May 1951 was assigned to VC 3 (Navy Squadron 3) with a tail code N P. After a time in Japan and Korea it returned to the U S A in 1952. It went to several depots till August 1956 when it was finally struck off charge. The plane was listed as surplus and sold to Argentina and assigned to the Argentine Armada in 1959 and after an accident was given to a museum in 1966. the museum piece was sold to a French collector in 1994 when it was registered F-AZYS. Mieier Motors bought the aircraft in 2009 and ferried it to Bremgarten. The Corsair is seen here on the taxi way at the Flying Legends air show at Duxford U K.
